Velma Dispensa, age 89, of Amity, passed away Sunday, October 8, 2017.
She was born on December 25, 1927 at Crocker, Missouri, the daughter of Leslie Long and Bertha Mae Alexander Long. She was preceded in death by two sons, James and David Kincaid; one daughter, Joyce Wright; one granddaughter, Fawn Cox; her parents; eight brothers; and one sister.
Velma was a Christian in her faith, attended Bismarck Pentecostal Church and loved her Lord most of all. In 1978, she relocated her family to the Sweet Home community near Amity on thirty-six acres to which she lovingly devoted the rest of her life. She had two wishes, to have all of her daughters live close to her and to win the lottery; the first wish granted last year. Velma adored her family, enjoyed gardening and canning and she loved to dance.
She is survived her daughters and their spouses, Karen Heil, Beverly Cox (John), Rita McManis (Kenneth), all of Amity; Rebecca Wilson (Ronnie) of Hot Springs; Janice Boykin (Mike) and Patricia Ward (John), all of Amity; and a granddaughter she raised as her daughter, Angela Chase (Jeff) of Pearcy; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-five great-grandchildren; eleven great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Alma Luter of Collinsville, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, October 12, 2017, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood, with Bro. Van Glidewell officiating.
Visitation will be held Thursday, 1:00 PM until service time.
Interment will be in the Sweet Home Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and include David Kincaid, Greg Lee, Michael Wilson, Ryan Heil, Skyler Heil, Taylor Wilson, Brandon Ward, Bryan Ward and Colton Boykin.
Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Taylor, Steve Spears and the nurses and staff of Hospice of Central Arkansas.
