Born in Sacramento, California
Resided in Hot Springs, Arkansas

Bette C. Sutton, age 95, of Hot Springs, died Sunday, December 23, 2018.

She was born on February 19, 1923, in Sacramento, California, the daughter of Claude Swan and Cleo Overstreet Swan. On June 19, 1949, she married Warren Sutton and they lived happily together for 52 years until his death in 2001. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Claudett Swan.

She graduated from high school in 1940 and started working for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company as an operator. She was later promoted to the engineering department and retired after more than 35 years of service.

In 1977, after visiting Hot Springs and staying in Wacaster’s Shady Hills Trailer Park, Bette and Warren moved to Hot Springs and purchased the trailer park. That is when she joined the Wacaster family. Bette and Betty W. became best friends and did everything together until Betty’s death in 2011. She looked forward to their Friday night card games and trips that they made together in their travel trailers. They even drove all the way to Mexico City, Mexico pulling their trailers.

Bette was a long-time member of First Christian Church where she served as a deacon, served in many other capacities in the church and sang in the choir for 50 years. She dearly loved all of her dogs and treated them like her children. Bette always had a big smile for anyone who came to see her.

She is survived by her nephew, Mike Simpson (Pam) of Vacaville, California; her dear friend, Driz Northcutt of Hot Springs; her adopted family, Linda Priddy (Noel), Susan Fulton (Greg), Sherri Holmes (Tim), Blayne Catlett (Nicole), all of Hot Springs and Brennan Catlett (Chelsea) of Conway; and many kids who called her Aunt Bette.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 2:30 PM, Sunday, January 13, 2019 in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Rev. Don Hubbard officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Hot Springs.

The family of Bette would like to thank Quapaw Care and Rehab for her excellent care and a special thank you to Vickie Ragsdale (CNA) who loved her like we did.
